Egipto: escuelas, iglesias y orfanatos quemados para borrar todo ratro de presencia cristiana


(Asia News/Popetawadros/InfoCatólica) Después de asaltar la Iglesia de San Tawadros el-Shatbi, los extremistas islámicos armados dirigieron su atención a dos hogares para niños desfavorecidos, situados cerca de la iglesia parroquial, según afirmaron los habitantes de la zona. Robaron las ofrendas de la iglesia, ropa y los juguetes de los niños antes de incendiar el edificio entero. El fuego se prolongó durante más de 5 horas. «Afortunadamente», explicaron, «los niños fueron llevados a un lugar seguro antes de la llegada de los islamistas».

Según un profesor de la Escuela San José, el ataque tendrá un gran impacto para la vida cotidiana los cristianos. «Los maestros», señaló, «no saben cuándo empezará el año escolar. La escuela está abierta para cristianos y musulmanes, y ha educado a cientos de niños de zonas rurales, muchos de los cuales vivían en los dos orfanatos».
